HUSH PUPPY DON’T PLAY

I went and saw Beasts of the Southern Wild last night and could not have been more delighted. I’m not going to try to explain the movie here because words won’t do the movie justice and simply because an explanation of this beautiful, raw, spirited film would be futile. I can’t write the poetry necessary to fairly describe this film or impart what you feel after watching it. You really have to see it for your own eyes. If nothing else, go see this movie just to watch Quvenzhane Wallis’ performance as Hush Puppy. Never has a 6 year-old on screen moved you in so many ways. One of the top movies of 2012 thus far. Don’t just take my word for it, listen to the guys from Grantland’s Hollywood Prospectus sum it up well.

TUNESKI TUESDAY

It’s Tuesday so it must be time for some music. Since we’re still in the full throes of a hot summer these tunes will be best enjoyed next to a body of water. Pool, springs, ocean, lake, river, doesn’t matter, take your pick. Or use as a mental escape while sitting behind your desk. Sit back and bask in the tunes.

 

YOUR NEW FAVORITE FESTIVAL

The fine folks at Transmission Entertainment revealed the full Fun Fun Fun Fest lineup last night via bingo, which in and of itself is rad. But what’s even more rad is how stellar the concert bill is this year. It’s probably the most even keeled and interesting festival lineups I’ve seen this year. Truly something for everyone unless you’re a soulless curmudgeon. FFFFest quickly became my favorite music festival after attending last year. The scope of genres present, the size, the logistics, and the crowd were all spot on. I eagerly purchased my ticket this morning, I urge you to do the same. The reunion of Run DMC alone is reason enough to attend so head over to FFFFest website now to grab a ticket.
